Ternopil State Medical University (TSMU) located in the Eastern Ukraine, established in 1957. TSMU is a modern educational establishment equipped with up to date labs and libraries. Currently there are about four thousand students among whom are half foreigners which nowadays constitute about one thousand five hundred people from all over the world. The training of foreign nationals is conducted in English language. TSMU is considered to be one of the first Ukrainian medical institutions which launched English taught programs. Among teaching staff the university has three hundred twenty-four PhD students and eighty-four Dsc who are involved in various scientific research aimed at the development and application of new promising medical technologies that meet the criteria of the world’s novelty: the modeling of pathological processes and the development of the principles of experimental therapy and prevention etc. TSMU professors cooperate with local hospitals and clinics consulting them if necessary. TSMU supports and encourages the idea of developing international partnership for the purpose of integration into the international academic community, which provides an opportunity for the implementation and participation of university representatives in international programs, professional training of teachers at the educational and clinical bases of partner universities, conducting joint scientific forums, and conducting academic exchanges of teachers and students.
More than 1500 international students from 53 different countries are studying in Ternopil State Medical University.

Ternopil State Medical University is the first university in Ukraine to adopt the American Nursing Program. In the American Nursing School and International Nursing School, teaching follows the American Nursing School curriculum. TSMU collaborates with the University of South Carolina Upstate (USA) to exchange academic programs for nursing students.The Nursing School offers two degrees:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) – two-year program
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – four-year program (or two years for those who already have a nursing degree)
After graduation students are eligible to take the National Council License Examination (NCLEX) and Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) for registered nurses to start working and living in USA. After obtaining associate degree, students can transfer to USA for bachelor’s degree.
